Most of us love shopping in the big supermarket, but hate buying vegetables and fruits from there. They don't come with bar codes. In most of the big supermarkets around my home, I need to stand in a queue to first get the vegetables weighed/barcoded and then in the main queue where it gets scanned and billed. And you can imagine the delay when ever the counter boy forgets the code for one item.

Toshiba japan seems to have solved the problem with a new scanner - one that can scan real objects instead of barcodes. Yes, just show an apple to it and it will automatically recognize it as an apple. No forgotten codes and no unidentified vegetables. It just gets super easy.
