The Windows 8 metro start screen has a lot of admirers. Although a replacement to the start menu, one important thing missing in the metro start screen is the "My Computer" shortcut. But since the metro screen is highly customizable, you can easily add the "My Computer" option to it.

The easiest way is to open windows explorer, right click on "Computer" and click on the "Pin to Start" option.

Now you will be able to see "My Computer" option on the metro start screen.

If you want to see "My computer" on your desktop, you can add it using the control panel. First right click on the desktop and select "Personalize".

On the left side, you will find "Change Desktop icons" option. Click on it and you will get the "Desktop Icon settings" manager.

You can add and remove a lot of desktop items from here like "Computer", "Recycle bin", "Control Panel", "Network" etc.
