About Arun

Hi There, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to visit Skipser and know more about me.

To start with, I was born in a place called Kozhikode(India) on 24th April. Now most of you would need to do some tongue-circus to spell that name :)
But for a fun fact, it is the place where Vasco-Da-Gama, the Portuguese explorer and captain of the fist ship which sailed directly from Europe to India landed.

Most part of my first 23 years of livable life was spent in Kerala, a southern state in India which is also known as "Gods Own Country". For the rest of the years (6 right now, maybe more depending on when your reading this, but calculate it this way (1980 + 23 - which year you are reading this), I have been living in Bangalore which is the IT capital of India.

I studied Electronics Engineering and work as a software developer. But apart from work, I love blogging, hanging out in social networks and creating things that would be useful to others. Some of my endeavors include -

  • SKDownloader - A free torrent client written in Java.
  • Sec Notes - A free secure encrypted notes app for android.
  • Pinterest Badge - A free wordpress plugin that shows recent pins on website.
  • Skipser itself whose content management system is written using Perl and Mysql.

For some reason, I have always been the guy who likes the back end corner of the classroom. And so is my workplace at home in a corner -

... and it is ALWAYS as neat and tidy as you see in the picture :)

By the way, I am a die hard soccer lover and my favorite is Messi :D

About Skipser

Skipser is where I post some of the useful tech suff I have encountered in day-to-day life. Not to mention, it was also a well successful attmpt to learn server programming :)

Unlike most other blogs in the internet which are written using PHP, I wrote Skiper using Perl and MySql... Just like IMDB. If you didn't know, Perl is a programming language created by Larry Wall and goes with the slogan - Easy things should be easy and hard things should be possible. A lot of people has asked me why not PHP? Well the question of which is better always ends up in a bar fight between supports :)
